Strawberries 'n' Cream French Toast

This brunch recipe can be prepared as a casserole. Bread is topped with strawberry cream cheese and covered in eggs and baked to perfection with a special syrup.
 

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup strawberry flavored ice cream syrup
  • 16 slices white bread
  • 4 ounces strawberry-flavored cream cheese spread
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups strawberry flavored milk
  • Whipped cream
  • 2 cups whole strawberries, cleaned and sliced

Method

Melt butter with brown sugar and strawberry syrup. Pour into jellyroll pan. Spread 8 slices of bread with strawberry-flavored cream cheese, then top with remaining 8 slices of bread. Place these "sandwiches" atop melted mixture. In a large bowl, whisk eggs with strawberry milk and pour over bread. Let stand 30 minutes or overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Remove from pan and flip to reveal caramelized strawberry side. Top with whipped cream and sliced strawberries.
